Bob, Inc. uses Kurt Chipmunk to briquette its metal chips
which are easier to dispose of and sell compared to wet chips
"We’re getting more money for our compacted chips using the Kurt Chipmunk," reports Bob Gearou, vice president of Bob, Inc. A Kurt Chipmunk user for more than a year, Bob, Inc. specializes in precision machining of complex parts for leading manufacturers of aerospace, medical and defense products.
As an ISO 9001:2000 manufacturer committed to continuous improvement, Bob, Inc. saw the introduction of the Chipmunk compactor as an opportunity to improve the company’s aluminum chip and coolant management processes.
Gearou reports, "Compacted, dry pucks are easier to dispose of and sell compared to wet chips. The pucks are easier to weigh and we have better control of what we’re turning over to scrap dealers. We’ve also regained over 500 square feet of valuable floor space by eliminating tubs of loose chips. The Kurt Chipmunk has been a good investment for our company." |

It doesn't get the attention it deserves because it contributes little to the bottom line, is low technology and is mostly a housekeeping chore. Until now. (Read More) |
